Its spooky how that happens – the government encourage the use of wood, or stoves, or geothermal heating, whatever, and even offer grants to help out, and the prices magically double overnight. Coincidence?

Hi there,
Check here… http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAndBenefits/BenefitsTaxCreditsAndOtherSupport/On_a_low_income/DG_10018661 for further details on the government Warm Front grants for those on low income/ on benefits. Otherwise, call British Gas on 0845 074 5994 to discuss alternatives. They are always helpful and very well informed on all the latest schemes.

Hope this helps.

Regards.

Hi,
Have been told boiler isn't worth repairing (£500+), and new 1 is better option. Have had Warmfront grant for cavity/loft ins. and also rad and TRV's, so not able to get grant from them. I'm on JSA and wife receiving Incapacity benefit. Where can we go to get a new boiler/new grant? We dont have any savings!

Hi, i am wondering if people who are in severe financial hardship are entitled to a central heating grant as i do not have gas central heating and instead spend approx £120 a month on coal to heat the house. I live in Scotland, who could i apply to if i am entitled to anything?
Thanks, Keri

Roger

Thanks for your comment/query. Although you have narrowly missed the <a href="http://www.gasboiler-buyability.co.uk/boiler-scrappage-scheme-scrapped/" rel="nofollow">boiler scrappage scheme</a>, npower are still running an <a href="http://www.gasboiler-buyability.co.uk/npower-grabs-boiler-scrappage-scheme-initiative/" rel="nofollow">extended scrappage initiative</a> and British Gas still offer up to £704 off new boilers (call 0845 074 5994), but I suspect you are asking specifically about a <a href="http://www.gasboiler-buyability.co.uk/government-grants/" rel="nofollow">Warm Front grant</a> for over 60's.

There is a range of grants available to help improve the energy efficiency of your home. The Government’s Home Energy Efficiency Scheme (HEES) is administered by Warm Front and Warm Deal (Scotland) and also provides grants for home improvements. For information, call Warm Front on 0800 316 2805 or Warm Deal on 0800 316 6009. You may be entitled to a grant if you are: 1. a household with children under 16 and receiving an income-related benefit 2. a household receiving one of the main disability benefits &/or 3. over 60 and receiving an income-related benefit.

Hope this helps.

Regards and good luck!

Kieran.
Thanks for the message and apologies for the delay in writing back. Firstly, I recommend you read this post... http://www.gasboiler-buyability.co.uk/how-to-apply-for-a-new-gas-boiler-under-government-scrappage-scheme/ It has some helpful tips on applying for the government's boiler scrappage scheme. Secondly, take a look at the Energy Saving Trust page about grants here: http://www.energysavingtrust.org.uk/Easy-ways-to-stop-wasting-energy/Energy-saving-grants-and-offers

Apologies also if the abbreviation 'URL' confused you, it basically just means the web site address.

Hope this helps and good luck with the boiler upgrade and grant.

All the best

Hello Alan
I am an OAP and can you please give me the web site details where I can apply for the government or council grant towards the cost of replacing my inefficent gas boiler. I live in Buckinghamshire. I am sorry I don\'t know what URI stands for. If it is some form of password I can supply one.

Many thanks Kieran Dunne
