OVO New Energy
Description
OVO is an exciting new energy company – launched September 2009 and the first to enter the UK market for a long time – and it has immediately challenged the big six with tariffs that represent better value for money for certain households.
OVO’s web site states that intends to prove its commitment to consumers by offering good customer service and providing simple, value-for-money deals that are accessible to existing customers as well as new ones.
Deals
New Energy Plan offers 15% renewable energy. This tariff has nearly three times more renewable electricity than the standard UK average of 5.9%.
Pros
- Fixed Pricing. Guarantees your bill won’t skyrocket even if energy prices do. Helps you manage your bills because the price per unit of your energy will not change during your fixed contract.
- Choice of paperless or paper billing
- Earn from Energy. If your account is in credit, you will earn 3% interest equivalent on what is in there.
Cons
- Cancellation fee. When you sign up with Ovo on a fixed tariff contract, this means your prices are fixed for the duration of your contract and it is at this point when OVO would buy your energy in advance for the year. So if you choose to leave OVO during your 12 month fixed contract you will pay a termination fee of £30 per fuel inclusive of VAT.
